Artist Gail Fitzpatrick Creates Memories With Paintings As They Happen

Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 31, 2011
Shunning photography, Gail Fitzpatrick of Live Event Paintings captures the excitement of the day as it unfolds, using only oils and canvas. To finish the job, she has teamed with the imaging specialists at Parrot Digigraphic to create fine art reproductions.
In an age where using a digital camera to gather sketches for creating a painting is commonplace, or even painting directly from a final photograph is de rigueur for many super-realist painters, Gail Fitzpatrick of Live Event Paintings works against the current of modern painting techniques. Using some highly refined methods involving planning, visualization and preparation, Fitzpatrick creates unique paintings live, onsite, and during an actual event such as weddings and receptions, using no photographic tools whatsoever.
The result is a completely unique painting, expressing far more than any single image can relate.
Fitzpatricks process involves repeated visits to the site in preparation, to examine the composition and lighting as it changes during the day. She makes preliminary sketches to block out positions of the event- locations of tables, lights, the groups of people and the positions of the key subjects. Early in the day of the event, she will set up her easel and start work- creating the details of the scene, the background and environment, in preparation for the arrival of the guests.
Once the guests arrive, the excitement and the magic starts to happen says Fitzpatrick. The tent fills with people, and the party comes to life. My job is to capture the energy and animation of the moment, on canvas. The finished painting reflects my impressions of the day: the golden light, the graceful canopy, and the happy mood of the guests, who have come to help the bride and groom celebrate their marriage.
Because she paints throughout the event and watches each subject for characteristic gestures, movements and postures, she gathers impressions of the character of each guest and is able to create a work which express the entire experience, not simply a piecemeal snapshot.
But her work doesnt stop at the finished painting. To finish the job, she teams with the imaging specialists at Parrot Digigraphic, Ltd in Billerica, MA
.
She makes reproductions of the painting available in several ways- as note cards, printed on fine watercolor paper, and as reproduction Gicl
