Law of Attrction-Different Strokes for Different Folks

13 June 2011

Article by Stan Pontiere

I have often written about how we live in a world of abundance and how the “Law of Attraction” can be used to achieve our deepest desires. After years of study, what I am just coming to understand is that to be successful in using the “Law of Attraction” is a very individual thing and what works for one person may not work for another. The term different strokes for different folks came immediately to mind.

In applying the “Law of Attraction” a method that works for me can have completely opposite and negative effects for another person. This is the reason so many people when they first try to apply the “Law of Attraction” become discouraged and come to believe that the “Law of Attraction: is a myth or worse yet a scam just to empty their pockets. Nothing could be farther from the truth. “The Law” is a scientifically proven reality. The problem with the application of “The Law” is that what works for one person may not be the right method for you.

Everyone knows that in order to make the “Law of Attraction” work for you, you must first work on your sub-conscious mind to eliminate self-limiting beliefs and replace them with a success mindset that opens a world of possibilities and opportunities for you. This is where the problem lies. Replacing a negative mindset with an abundant mindset may be far more difficult than it sounds. You have had a lifetime to build your sub-conscious beliefs and changing them may be no small task.

When I first read Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, I immediately became excited at the possibilities. It wasn’t long after that I became discouraged and for a while gave up the quest for a life of abundance. Using visualization as Hill suggested just did not work for me. Every time I tried visualization it created serious conflicts between my goals and what my sub-conscious mind would allow. In fact, I found that I was worse off than before. However, I have met many people that had success with visualization. At that time, I came to believe that the “Law of Attraction” would never work for me.

Although, I continued to have an interest in “The Law” it was a long time before it really started working for me. Some time passed and I was having a moderately successful career. I was a news photographer working for the Associated Press, the New York Times and several other major newspapers but, I always felt that I could and should be having more success.

I was at a lecture (a really dull one) that was being put on by the Press Photographers of America when I turned to my long time friend Jack Haynes and suggested that we escape this boredom and go somewhere for a cup of coffee. It was during this little coffee clatch that I brought up the subject of success and Napoleon Hill’s book and how I felt that it was not helping me. It turned out that photography was just a hobby with Jack. He was, in fact, a clinical hypnotherapist. Photography just gave him a creative outlet. He told me that what I was going through was not uncommon and then suggested that he give me a series of hypnotherapy sessions. I could not believe the sudden rapid changes that I went through. Within one week, my whole outlook on life had changed and where I could only have previously seen impending failure, I was now seeing nothing but opportunities. Before I had seen failure at every turn and now I only saw challenges to be overcome. I had become open to all of the opportunities that had always been open to me but that I had never actually been aware of before.

The point of this short story is simply this. The “Law of Attraction” is one of the fundamental law of the universe and is always attracting everything we have in life to us-both negative an positive. If at first you fail at your first attempts at making the “Law of Attraction” work for you rather than against you. Do not become discouraged. Try another method and ultimately you will find the method that works for you.

There is visualization, hypnosis, neuro-linguisitic programming (NLP) and many other newer methods being introduced to us everyday. Don’t give up, if one method does not work then try another. Ultimately, you will find the right method for you and you will find success beyond your wildest dreams. You will be able to state with conviction that you are an unstoppable force of nature and that you have limitless wealth in all facets of your life.

You will never be a failure in life unless you simply give up. For me, failure is not an option.
