nature photography is based on your sensitivity to natural light throughout. You’ve heard the certainty that by the good landscape photography, it takes time usually sunny, sooner or later in the day when the light is low and soft. However, this does not apply to any situation and busy lifestyles do not always allow us the conditions under which we choose our photos.
Have you ever designed and have a day set aside as nature photography and your practice, only to wake up to gray skies, cloudy? You are not alone, this happens to us all in the same way professionals and beginners. And of course if you travel often have only one chance of getting your photos before you take in order to find the best situation, how you do.
Photographer, do not despair. There are many situations that fit perfectly cloudy sky, in fact, there are some situations in which a cloudy sky, the best solution for a good photograph is nature. Here are just some situations to explore in cloudy weather that could threaten to derail your travel photography.
Rainforest photo # 1. When the sun shines through the trees in the forest, create a mosaic of light and shadow, the correct exposure is almost impossible. You can not just make the difference in these conditions. Cloudy is actually the best way to make a good photo rainforest. Some say the more turbid the better, because if your forest is high enough to be in the clouds, you can capture some very atmospheric effects in the misty forest.
I live in south-east Queensland, I’m near the beach and some fabulous rainforest. My rule is: when it’s sunny, go to the beach. If the weather is gray and cloudy, Grab your camera and head for the rainforest.
# 2 Wildlife Photography (animals and humans too). Sunlight can be a problem when shooting wildlife. In the central part of the day to create the Parasol heavy exposure to complicate, and Rob your color photos and essential details that the subject gives his character. Worst of all, the sun casts shadows on your subject’s face. As you know, is the fundamental part of any good photographic eye of wildlife. If the eyes are lost in shadow in the photo, the personal connection is lost with the subject.
Animals do not like watching the sun more than you, so even in the early morning and late afternoon when the light is softer, photography can be difficult. Most often, you will probably find the reason for the shift from light.
If your photo on a cloudy day, you enter your topic of wildlife in soft, even light that allows the perfect exposure, no bad shadows. And ‘less bright glare reflecting surfaces (the skin of a snake, a bird’s feathers, etc.) so that the picture may actually appear brighter.
# 3 Sunset photo. Clouds at sunset create a picture more interesting as a clear sky. Just having the sun break through the clouds beyond the horizons. A good nature photographer learns to read the sky and try to predict what will happen. Often in a gray, cloudy day you will notice that the only area of clear sky on the horizon is far away. If this is the case, you can find a good location and is set for your photo of the sunset.
With luck, there are several breaks in the clouds before sunset. If so, you could take pictures on the site are just spectacular, a truly wonderful effect that anyone hoping to understand the nature photography.
Like all things in nature photography is all programming in the world is nothing without a little luck. You can get all your pictures together to see disappear only to bridge the gap between the clouds and chances of a good photo. Persistence wins at the end so to keep trying and each time you end up with some spectacular images of the sunset.
I hope these suggestions can go and enjoy your photography, no matter what the weather. How to grow your experience, you will find it easier to read light and knowledge of the type of photography suits the conditions. Until then, practice, practice, practice!
